2025 Extra Mile Conference

The Extra Mile Conference was created by the Louisiana Physical Therapy Board to provide a secure environment where licensees can deepen their understanding of the regulations that govern the physical therapy practice in Louisiana. This interactive educational opportunity is designed specifically for Louisiana-licensed PTs and PTAs who seek clarity on the complex regulations within the healthcare system that impact their work. Additionally, it offers a platform for decision-makers to gain valuable insights from physical therapy professionals, providing a "boots on the ground" perspective on the practical application of these regulations. Attendees will acquire essential knowledge and have the chance to connect with their peers.

The Board's goal in providing this low cost conference is to proactively reduce incidents of harm in Louisiana by ensuring all stakeholders have a comprehensive understanding of the factors that may contribute to negative outcomes in PT patient care, thereby enhancing the overall quality of care. Sessions will cover best practices and strategies to reduce risks, HPSO statistical data related to malpractice and PT board action, understanding fraud and abuse, and more. Sessions will be presented by top subject matter experts in their field as well as Louisiana legislators. Licensees may gain up to 11.5 board-approved continuing education hours.

The Louisiana Physical Therapy Board has contracted with APTA-LA to serve as event planners. To view more information for the conference, please click here to visit the event page.
