During the 2024 regular legislative session, Senate Bill 462 was passed which would allow the governor of Louisiana to appoint the chairman from among the members of certain boards and commissions. Governor Landry signed the Bill into law on June 5, 2024, creating Act 491.
The Louisiana Physical Therapy Board is included under this bill and on June 18, 2024 Governor Landry appointed Board member Lucien "Danny" Lewy as the new chairman of the Board.
Danny Lewy was appointed to his first term as a board member on June 7, 2024 by Governor Landry. Danny graduated from LSU HSC - New Orleans and has been practicing physical therapy since 1992. He co-owns Lewy Physical Therapy, which was established in 2001 with the intent of providing the highest quality of physical therapy for patients in Baton Rouge, Denham Springs, and the surrounding areas. Danny started his clinic with a passion to ensure that each location offered the best hours in the area and also offered customized aquatic to land-based therapy programs in order to provide the best solution for reduced pain and quicker recovery. Danny is thrilled to serve on the Board and gain leadership experience as the Board Chairman.
The Chairman of the board works closely with the Executive Director to guide the board’s organizational priorities and governance concerns. The Chairman is responsible for presiding over all board meetings, representing the board in all official business, and must maintain a position of impartiality.
The Louisiana Physical Therapy Board’s fellow board members and staff are thrilled to work with Mr. Lewy in his new role.
