Jurisprudence
Jurisprudence is defined in the Louisiana Physical Therapy Board Rules as the body of law applicable to the practice of physical therapy in Louisiana including the Practice Act and the Rules promulgated by the Board.

Licensees are required to successfully complete a minimum of two (2) hours of Jurisprudence per biennial renewal period. You have two options to meet this requirement:
1. Online
Two (2) hours of credit will be earned for successful completion of online Jurisprudence Exam. (A passing grade is 75%.) The exam is free of charge and consists of 40 questions from the Louisiana Practice Act and Rules. Taking the Jurisprudence Exam online does not count against the online credit hours allowed for license renewal. Individuals must have a profile created on our website to access the Online Jurisprudence Exam.
2. Live
Attending a Live Jurisprudence Seminar will count for two (2) Administrative Continuing Education contact hours to be used in licensees biennial renewal requirements (Louisiana Physical Therapy Board Practice Act Rule §194). To register for a Live Jurisprudence Seminar, email your name, license number, and desired Jurisprudence location to ceu@laptboard.org. Your certificate will be emailed to you following the completion of the seminar.
