July 23, 2026 Louisiana Physical Therapy Board Receives Excellence in Regulation Award
Lafayette, Louisiana, - The Louisiana Phyiscal Therapy Board has received the Excellence in Serivce Award from the Federation of State Boards of Physical Therapy (FSBPT) for the second time. First received in 2022, FSBPT bestowed the award on the Board again for 2026. The award was announced at the Leadership Issues Forum (LIF) in Arlington, Virginia.
The Excellence in Regulation Award was created to recognize jurisdictions that have made significant accomplishments towards increasing public protection for their consumers of physical therapy services.
The Louisiana Physical Therapy Board was created within the Department of Health. This Board is legislatively mandated to license and regulate the physical therapists and physical therapist assistants who wish to work in Louisiana. The Board is mandated to interpret the scope of practice for physical therapy, write regulations, and discipline licensees who have violated the law. The most important function of the Board is to protect the citizens of Louisiana.
